We are working among the poorest of the poor in the slums of Hyderabad and Secunderabad cities. Due to the drought conditions in the villages, many farmers ended their lives by suicide death and others are pouring into the cities for their survival and settling down in the slums. |

Wherever there is a vacant government land, these migrants put up huts with whatever they find and live in it. They usually do not have basic facilities like drinking water electricity, and toilets. 80% of these slum dwellers are uneducated and 60% of their children do not go to school.
Because of the unhygienic conditions they often suffer with many diseases like tuberculoses malaria, Cancer, Malnutrition and skin diseases. HIV/AIDS is spreading fast in these slums.
Often the eldest daughter is left behind to look after the smallest child when mother goes for work. The boys turn up to be child labours in their young age. Dogs, Pigs, Goats and hens all live together with these slum dwellers. Both men and women are addicted to alcohol and men in their drunken stage go for illegal sex with women without condoms which results in spreading of HIV virus. Because of the poverty some young girls turn into prostitutes.
Hindus, Muslims and tribals from different castes and religious live together in these slums.
Superstitious beliefs, witchcraft and idol worship are very common. Every day around 300 people migrate into the city and settle down in these slums. Most of these slum dwellers are daily wage labourers. If they work they can eat food. They do not have proper clothes to wear.
The Lord has given BGC burden to work among these people and to see their lives transformed for the glory of God.
